Habbits

I was reading a book "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens" by Sean Covey. I read the very first chapter today that is "Get in The Habit". I found it very interesting and I will suggest all of you to read it as it will really help you improve yourself a lot.Firstly what habit is,it is something which we repeatedly and gradually it becomes our nature. In this chapter I read that habits are something that either make you something better or totally ruin your life.He has discussed different point of views of many teeagers about life and everyone is like blaming something or someone about something bad happen to them. However, these problems are the hard fact of real life.He said you cant turn off real life but at least try to deal with it in proper manner. As the title of book clearly states 'seven habits' ,so in this chapter he has introduced these 7 habits and have differentiated between effective and defective habits.I find these habits really very important. The habits may seem to be very simple but they are very important. He has showed the importance of these habits by showing the example of tree and the relating those with that tree. The bottom or the very first portion of tree is self victory. Then the middle portion of tree shows public victory each portion consist of three important habits.Means when your inner is strong and developed then you are ready to communicate with others in better way.And as we know that team work is show more appreciable result.Team can do better than you alone can do,because sharing ideas and combination of multiple ideas brings up something more innovative than only single idea.We have good and bad habits so we must try to change those bad habits into good ones. Atleast, I am stronger than my habits and I will change them.

Participation

"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand”
Even the most brilliant, credible, and talented instructors with the most dazzling PowerPoint slides won’t guarantee participants in a leadership training program are actually going to learn anything.
In order for all that good content to actually sink in, people need to have a chance to do something with it.

High Potentials

High Potentials are usually identified as those who have the potential to grow into leadership roles. They are hard working who have the potential to be leaders based on their knowledge, skills, and the behaviors and attitude they show. They are high achievers in an organization, ready to do what is necessary to get the job done. They are eager to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities and bigger challenges.
There are many examples of companies that have successful leadership such as Bank of America, Microsoft, Philip Morris, Novartis International, and Marriott International. These organizations have seen the value of ensuring that their high potential employees are groomed for future leadership roles.
Successful organizations know what skills are required for a leader to meet its long term strategic goals and grow prosper.

Women Leadership in Pakistan – A Change in the Making

The challenges to increasing female participation in economic activity and the creation of leadership within  women entrepreneur are manifold. These challenges range from social taboos, conservative lobbies, lack of access to education ,information and finance to discriminatory behaviors by male counterparts, severely degrading the ability of women to develop leadership skills and to participate in the policymaking process. Yet another problem is there are gender focused institutes that are seperate colleges for girls and boys which greatly limitize the facility of networking ,mentorship and learning opportunities.
Nevertheless, Pakistan is slowly developing women leadership. In year 2008, Dr. Fehmida Mirza of  PPP was elected the first woman speaker of the National Assembly. Recently Ms. Nasrin Haq became the first woman to head the Karachi Port Trust as its chief executive.Hina Rabani is the first woman foreign minister .
Moreover, in November 2007 yet another history was written when "The Overseas Chamber of Commerce & Industry" appointed its first ever women CEO Unjela Siddiqi. Then in January 2008, Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) appointed Jehan Ara as the first paid woman CEO.And even Jehan Ara was previously elected as President of P@SHA for two consecutive term.
Although bringing the same approach in business throughout Pakistan is still a challenge, nevertheless, the positive vibes are now being felt.

Shah Walliullah-Reformation Movement among Muslims

I read a book last year named " A Concise History of Indo-Pakistan" by S.F Mahmud. In this book histroy of subcontinent is briefly defined. How different dynasties ruled and their fall, Who,how, when and what conquer. The book consist of many topics.Out of these topics I will discuss one of the topics here that is Shah Walliullah, one of the most eminent leaders of Pakistan. In mid 18th century, the worst time for the Indian Muslims, when the Maharattas terrorized the land neither honour, life nor property was safe.A great reformer was working hard in central region for the Muslim cause. He was Shah Walliullah. He was a great scholar, thinker and a true leader. He wanted the Muslims to understand their religion and practice it properly. He translated the Quran into persian and did a lot more for the Muslims of India. His companions were extremely inspired by his leadership that after his death, his companions continued his mission also known as "Firaizi Movement".

Leadership Actions

Few days back I was reading a book "Leadership is dead" by Pat Lencioni . The thing which I understood from that book is that leaders have personality which automatically influence others. Leaders have some fixed rules or actions which lead to a successful life. Leaders do things in some different ways that is by acting upon these rules and actions. There are seven leadership actions that are important for leaders seeking to exert influence in the lives of others. These seven actions are as follows:
  1. Give trust to become trustworthy
  2. Become credible, not just smart
  3. Be intentional in your influence
  4. Break through your walls of self-preservation
  5. Pursue relationship before opportunity
  6. Give yourself away
  7. Become significant in your impact.
These seven action lead to influence and to have influence, is to have power. You cannot talk about leadership as influence without touching on the use of power.

Leaders

We all know the great leader Allama Iqbal. But as Allama is the most important personality because today if we are studying in universities and living an independent life and etc ,it is all due to his idea and efforts for indenpendence. Therefore I want to start my blogger with the discussion of this important personality. It was under his leadership that without forcing anybody he convinced everyone through his poetry to work for a seperate country where we can live freely and peacefully and can perform our religious duties easily. These are the qualities of a leader that their personalities inspire others and the people follow them automatically and without any hesitation.
